Overview

“There's different insignia related benefits, I can tell you that the highest rarity insignia held for each faction will have an effect for certain benefits, while for other matters all insignias held will have some level of benefit.” - RetroBooster, Universal Council

According to the Discord FAQ Channel, the earlier you joined the PlanetQuest Discord, the rarer your free NFT mint of an insignia. All Legendary, Epic, and Rare insignias have already been distributed, but Commons are still being minted to new members. Any benefits of the insignias will be for whoever owns them at the time benefits are distributed. Those desiring rarer insignias can purchase them on secondary marketplaces (ImmutableX, TokenTrove). Insignia benefits are not based on which faction you have joined on Discord and owning insignias of other factions will provide benefits, even if you are not a member of that faction.

Rarity

The rarer the insignia, the lower the supply and the greater the benefits to the holder. There are currently four levels of rarity. Glitch insignias are the most rare, but they have the same benefits as a Legendary insignia. All Glitch, Legendary, Epic, and Rare insignias have already been distributed to early adopters of PlanetQuest. Common Insignias are still being minted for new members of the Discord and will continue up to 100,000 for each faction. If you wish to obtain a rarer insignia, you will need to purchase it on the secondary marketplaces (ImmutableX, TokenTrove).

Quantity

The rarest is the Glitch insignia, which has the same benefits as a Legendary insignia. The Glitch insignias were created to benefit 17 early adopters of the game who because of a “glitch” in the minting process missed out on obtaining a Legendary insignia. The Universal Council created the Glitch insignia to ensure that they wouldn’t miss out on the benefits that they would have earned by being one of the first 300 early adopters. There are 17 Glitch insignias in total.

The second rarest is the Legendary insignia, there are roughly 300 Legendary insignias in total. These were minted for the first 100 members of each faction in the Discord.

The third rarest is the Epic insignia, there are roughly 3,000 Epic Insignias. These were given to the next 1,000 members in each of the three factions.

The fourth rarest is the Rare Insignia, there are roughly 30,000 Rare insignias. These were given to the next 10,000 members in each of the three factions.

New members are currently being given Common insignias, which are capped at 100,000 members of each faction. There will be a total of 300,000 Common insignias minted. There are approximately 50,000 Common insignias from each faction remaining to be minted.

Benefit

Insignias have been confirmed to have certain benefits including that the highest ranked insignia held by the faction being played will be displayed on a user’s Explorer's Passport (PlanetQuest.io) as well as next to the user’s name in-game. Each insignia held will have some level of benefit to the holder, and the highest held for each faction will have an additional benefit while playing as that faction. There are rumored to be additional insignia benefits that will be revealed by subsequent game development. According to the Discord FAQ Channel, “We won't announce all the benefits at once. Every phase we announce something big, we'll also let you know how that might interact with Insignias.”

The first benefit for insignia holders has been announced by Infinity Force through a Twitter Spaces with PQ (02/13). Insignia holders will be airdropped Infinity Force’s token, due to be released soon.

You might already know there’s a limited supply of Insignias, the rarer the less of them. These are the only Insignias that will ever be minted in PlanetQuest. This also means whichever Insignia you may hold, it will show you as an OG Explorer later when the game is live. Likewise, the more Insignias you hold, the better ranking you get for your Planet Sale application.

Last but not least, each of these insignias will, once our token goes live, receive a series of $PQX airdrops. We are now ready to spill the tea on those as well! In total, PQ team will airdrop 12M $PQX, spread across the insignias over a period of 10 months, meaning each insignia will receive a sum of $PQX as illustrated in the neat infographic they’ve included.

Marketplace

The primary marketplace for PlanetQuest insignias, and where you will find your NFT after joining the discord, is the ImmutableX(IMX) Marketplace (link to instructions about how to access NFT or possibly just the website). On the “Marketplace” tab, you can see what insignias are currently for sale by navigating to the PlanetQuest page. Your NFT will be located under the “Inventory” tab and by clicking on your NFT, you can list it for sale on IMX.

The secondary marketplace, and one that is a little more tailored for buyers and sellers is the TokenTrove Marketplace. TokenTrove gives you the option to view all of the insignias for sale at each rarity in an easy to navigate UI. You can select from a list of insignias for sale at various price points as well as check out the Average Daily Price and other statistics to help you make an informed decision.

Because both of these marketplaces are through IMX and are L2 on the Ethereum blockchain, all transactions are gas free. This means that you can buy, sell, and trade NFTs without having to worry about paying gas fees. The only time you have to pay gas is when you transfer funds into your IMX account, which is also linked to your digital wallet, like MetaMask. This will come in handy as a key part of the game will be loaning out gear for others to use in exchange for a royalty from what they obtain while using your gear.
