About Planets[edit | edit source]

In PlanetQuest, all of the gameplay revolves around planets. Playing with your friends in a co-op session, having team battles against other factions, and searching for ancient artifacts happen on the planet's surface. Therefore, you will need a base for your operations. You can either join one of the publicly available planets or become the ruler of your own planet(s) and invite your friends to your planet(s). Before early access in 2023, PQ team will distribute no more than 3 galaxies of planets, including those earned through passport rewards. In each of these galaxies, there are:

Number of Planets available per Galaxy
Number of Planets available per Galaxy

For the keen observer, you’ll note the above breakdown not only reveals pricing, but also the weight value for each of the planet tiers. Although planets depend on players joining them and playing to generate $PQX, the amount of $PQX they produce will generally be relative to their weight, which means a Legendary planet will typically generate 50x more $PQX than a common one. In other words, a single Legendary planet can be expected to generate roughly 100 / 19,800 = 0.505% of all the $PQX produced by Planet NFTs within its galaxy, while a rare planet produces only 8 / 19,800 = 0.04%. This means that if the total $PQX production of a galaxy is 2.5M $PQX per month, a legendary planet would likely produce 5,050 $PQX per month, or 60,606 $PQX per year, as shown in the example below:

Example of $PQX production

Planet rarity represents the visual elements of your planet and its relation to Quantum. The rarer the planets, the more conducive to Quantum they will be. The presence of Quantum will be increased with the rarity of the planet.

Application Process[edit | edit source]

First of all, there is a limited number of planets available in this sale. That means we will have to assess each applicant and rank them based on their community activity, NFTs, passport points, interests, and motivations to distribute those planets to the people who really deserve them most.

A. Individual Community Members[edit | edit source]

1. The application process will start by connecting your wallet to our https://planetquest.io/. This can be done via MetaMask or via manual login.

2. In the second step, you will be asked to choose one or more factions. In this step, you will have two options:

a. Select the faction you want to play in the future (For example, The Empire).

b. Select multiple factions for better chances to obtain a planet.

This step is crucial because all of the planets on sale will be tied to a faction. With option (a), you can select the faction you want to play as in the game. For example, suppose you want to be a member of the Federation in the game and also want to own your own planet. In that case, you will need to select the Federation faction while applying. However, this might lower your chances of obtaining a planet, because there will be measures to balance out faction distribution in the sale.

With option (b), you can select multiple factions to increase the chances of getting a planet, but this will give you a planet with a randomly assigned faction. That means that if you want to be a Federation member in the game, but you get a planet belonging to the Empire, you won’t be able to play on your planet unless you select Empire when the game is released. Please think carefully.

3. After selecting your faction(s), you will need to decide how many planets you want to buy. In this section, you will be able to adjust the number of planets you want to purchase. Currently, there are limits on each planet tier. These are:

a. 16 for Common planets

b. 8 for Rare planets

c. 4 for Epic planets

d. 2 for Legendary planets.

It's important to note that you may be allotted fewer planets than you asked for, even if you make it high enough in the rankings. This is to make sure as many deserving community members as possible get their hands on a planet.

Since you might not get the exact planet tier you want, it’s best to select multiple planets from the list to fall back on. For example, suppose you wanted to get an epic planet, but the review qualifies you for a rare or lower tier. In that case, your chances of getting a rare planet might be higher if you selected both epic and rare planets or even a common planet.

4. After selecting your faction(s) and the number of planets, fill in your details for the next step. We require this information to handle corporate matters like our taxes. Also, as much as we would love to, we might not be able to sell you these planets due to regulatory issues in some countries. If you are affected, please bear with us as we work with legislators to find ways to handle these challenges. You will see unavailable countries in the “Country” field. Please try to provide all the necessary information.

5. The final step is filling in your interest and motivations. What makes you the worthiest Explorers to lay claim on the very first planets ever sold? How will you contribute to the community and the game as a planet owner? Please try to describe your interest and motivation in your own words. No matter how many people apply, we promise to read and rate every individual motivation we receive, making sure that Planets find their way to our most motivated community members.

6. Once you’ve completed all the steps, don’t forget to submit your application!

B. Organizations[edit | edit source]

1. The application process will start by connecting your wallet to our website. This can be done via MetaMask or via manual login.

2. This step is different for the organizations. Guilds and organizations can buy balanced packages of planets of every tier. Simply select the number of packages you would like to purchase, and we’ll see how many packages we can allot to you. Organizations will have pre-determined planet packages. In this package, there will be:

- 60 Common planets

- 30 Rare planets

- 10 Epic planets

- 1 Legendary planet

Important: Like individuals, organizations are not guaranteed the packages they apply for. The total amount of planets sold to organizations will be limited to ensure that the majority of the planets are sold to individuals.

Organizations will not be able to choose a different number of planets from the list. This is designed to have a properly balanced universe and create a fair environment for everyone involved. Organizations will be able to apply for up to 10 planet packages.

3. After selecting how many planet packages you want, you will need to fill in the necessary personal or business information.

4. And the final step, your interest and motivation. It is time to shine a spotlight on your passion by telling us why you want to participate in the Planet Sale. The planets will go to those guilds and organizations that are most involved with the community and have solid plans for the game.

5. Once you’ve completed all the steps, don’t forget to submit your application!

Please note that all submissions are final when the application phase is closed. Until that time, you can edit your application, adjust the number of planets, or rewrite your motivation. You won’t be able to edit or change the number of the planets after the application phase has ended.

Review Process[edit | edit source]

After the application phase is closed, we will start the review phase internally. In this process, we will evaluate every applicant by their community activity, commendations, insignias, passport points, and other relevant information. We will apply a metric to this information and rank each individual application accordingly. We will review all of your applications one by one and make sure everyone who deserves to own a planet will get their hands on one.

As it’s quite likely that there will be a lot more demand than there are planets available, it will take us some time to review all of the applications. We will inform our community from time to time about the review status and provide you with updates on our Discord server.

In general, being an active member of the community is vital. Contributing to conversations and events and being helpful to other members will positively impact your chances. Along with the community activity, things like how many NFTs you are holding, your Insignia(s), your Passport points, and your commendations will be considered. Also, we will ask you to write a short summary about why you want to buy a planet. What motivates you, and what you are passionate about in PlanetQuest. All of these will come together and determine your ranking among other players.

Claiming Process[edit | edit source]

When the review process is finished, and if you are eligible to purchase a planet, you will be contacted via email with a link to start the purchase and claiming process. When you successfully complete the payment process, your planet will be minted to your wallet immediately, and you will be able to see it in full 3D on your browser!

Planet spread: Current expected numbers: 35% desert, 27.5% forest, 20% tropical, 7.5% ice, 7.5% volcanic, 2.5% strange.

You will have the option of purchasing some part of the allocated planets. For example, if you are allotted one epic and one rare planet, you will be able to select both or only one of them in the payment process.

You will be able to complete your purchase by USDC (ERC20). We are also working on accepting ETH and IMX with the payment process.

When this process is completed, you will be given a planet, and its type will be a surprise. For example, if you asked a rare planet, you will always get a rare planet. But this could be a rare desert planet, a rare volcanic planet, or a rare ice planet.
